Huntingdon Academy is a two-form entry school located five minutes walking distance from Nottingham city centre. There are 453 children on roll and the school has a 52 place nursey. Huntingdon Academy is a vibrant, diverse and multicultural school that works in strong partnership with its community.
Huntingdon Academy has oracy at the forefront of its philosophy as we believe that spoken communication is vital to success in life. Our vision is to empower all our stakeholders to grow and reach their potential and we have a motivated, kind and ambitious team that adopt a relentless pursuit of best practice.
Our Academy vision, values and curriculum drivers are embedded in all our work. We teach our children they have a voice that matters. We have a bespoke curriculum, with reading at its core. Our curriculum is relevant, purposeful, and engaging to ensure our children are invested in their learning. We believe in active, participative learning which leads to a vibrant and exciting learning environment.
Children that attend Huntingdon Academy leave their primary education with strong emotional intelligence and communication skills. Our pupils transition to secondary school with a positive attitude to learning and are ambitious for their future.
All children are challenged, nurtured and inspired to achieve highly and make a positive contribution to society.
Watch our video to hear from Head of School Ms Riley and pupils at Huntingdon Academy talk about the school, our values and favourite subjects.
At Huntingdon Academy we have a morning and afternoon nursery group where children have the opportunity to enjoy focused activities, shared story time and play time in the large early years playground. We offer both 15 and 30 hour funded places.

Creating spaces that help children feel safe, calm and ready to learn. 🌿
We’re excited to be developing another new therapeutic classroom in our school — designed to support regulation, wellbeing and connection.
Thoughtful environments can make a huge difference. Soft spaces, calm colours, flexible seating and areas for reflection all help pupils feel supported so they can thrive.
More updates to come as the space develops. ✨

📚 Learning to Read: Our Top Priority
At our school, learning to read isn’t just another lesson — it’s the foundation for everything our children will achieve. That’s why we take reading seriously from the very start. 💫

Look what delicious treats arrived around school today! 🍫✨
Year 1 practised their reading and following instructions in English and made some delicious crispy cakes. We are so proud of their teamwork and fantastic listening skills — and the results tasted amazing! 😋👏

A huge thank you to our dedicated Huntingdon staff who gave up their own time after school today to learn from the Autism Team about supporting children with sensory needs.
Even our lunchtime staff came back to school to take part — showing that the whole team at Huntingdon is committed to meeting the needs of all learners. We’re proud of such a caring and dedicated team. 💙

Our Golf After School Club has been in full swing! ⛳️
Students have been learning the basics of golf, practising their swings, improving their aim, and building confidence on the course. Most importantly, they’ve been having lots of fun while developing new skills and teamwork with their friends.
It’s been fantastic to see their enthusiasm and progress each week — we might have some future golf stars in the making! 🌟
